Amateur Radio, also known as Ham Radio, is radio communication as a hobby. "Hams" buy their radios and antennas strictly for recreation. We communicate with other hams here, locally, and with hams across the country and around the world. In times of emergency, however, we are often able to help our communities by using our radios to supplement the usual communications systems. We never take money for these services.
